In last week’s post about Hugh Thomas’ Cuba: The Pursuit of Freedom, readers voted overwhelmingly in favor of my next newsletter discussing “Free Planet’s appeal to the right”; it’s a subject that’s very important to me and worthy of serious, thoughtful engagement. Because of that – and in concert with my currently busting my hump to get ahead on Free Planet – I’ve decided to continue working on that essay. However, I’ve still got some news for you…
Knowhere Games & Comics in San Marcos, California has been one of my biggest supporters over the years. Not only does owner Mathias Lewis run an incredible store but he cultivates actual community; every time I do a signing there, I’m greeted by familiar faces as well as brand-new ones, excited to chat with me about my work and pick up the latest. This is why I’m so excited to be returning this Saturday, June 28, from 2-4pm.
Best of all? It’s not just me. I’ll be joined by my Chris Robinson as well as Corinna Bechko! Chris will have his Eisner-wining All-Negro Comics, Werewolf Frankenstein and the brand-spanking-new Commander in Chains, while Corinna will be signing her just-released Blood Type. It’s going to be a Certified Hoot; RSVP now and put it on your calendar!
HOLY MOLY LOOK THAT THAT KEEN SURROKO FANART! If you aren’t familiar with James Coats and his brother John Coats, you absolutely must remedy that immediately. After following them both on Instagram (links in preceding sentence), head over to their website and snag their Dino Beasts comics, which are exactly what they sound like and every bit as awesome.
Short one for me this week, but we’ll close out with a reminder that the esteemed Dr. Aldous Foyroushi is willing to answer your questions about the world of Free Planet. Email the good doctor today for inclusion in Free Planet #4!
In the meantime, check out the following links and I’ll talk at you next week.
